New Entrants Group
The SFP scheme--what should the government do?
What do you believe the government should do to fix the current SFP scheme. Do we need a rebase so that all payments are brought up to date or is it a case of getting money into the national reserve so that new entrants can help get a foothold in the industry?

a rebase would solve the immediate problems by re-directing payments from those who retired and the naked acre claiming  investors   to the annomalies. Then ther needs to be either a rolling rebase or national reserve set up there after so as not to repeat the mistake of the last five years!
Unfortunatly the scottish government arent keen on this.Lets hope brian pack has something usefull on friday and the gov act quick.
As mentioned time is important

You are of course quite right in what you say,as well as working on as quicker timescale as is possible, we must also work hard to make sure we are not left out of future schemes as has happend before. By taking part in the stakeholder meetings we will do our best to see this doesn't happen. we will not however let the shorterm issues and fixes slip off our radar.

Jim.  one of the most important issues that the new entrants group needs to get across is the issue of time. yes we do need funds but the issue is as much when we get these funds, as opposed to how.
